We are pleased to share that, after careful consideration, the High Holy Day Cantorial Search Committee has recommended Cantor Lindsay Kanter as our next High Holy Day Cantor. Cantor Lindsay’s talent, warmth, musicianship, and sense of spirituality will enrich our High Holy Day services, and we are excited to welcome her to our community.
In addition to her role as High Holy Day Cantor, we are thrilled to announce that TBS has also engaged Cantor Lindsay to lead Shabbat services with Rabbi Widzer once a month for our congregation for the coming year, beginning in July. Her presence will undoubtedly enhance our worship experience, and we look forward to the many ways she will contribute to our Shabbat evening services.
Cantor Lindsay brings a wealth of experience to our community. For eight years, she has served as the Cantor at Temple Emanuel in Kensington, Maryland, leading worship, providing pastoral care, and overseeing the B’nai Mitzvah Program, choirs, and Temple Band. She is also a composer, winning the 2017 Kol Emet Commission Prize. Cantor Lindsay holds a Bachelor's in Vocal Performance from Indiana University and a Master's in Vocal Pedagogy from Northeastern Illinois University. She previously worked as a Cantorial Soloist and Music Specialist at Congregation Solel in Illinois before being ordained by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 2017. Cantor Lindsay’s experience includes internships at Central Synagogue in New York City, Temple Israel of Staten Island, and Congregation Ohel Avraham in Israel, as well as serving as a Chaplain Intern at Mount Sinai-Roosevelt Hospital.
